The project involved the construction of the first Tier III “stand alone” data center in Chile. The assignment included site selection, acquisition, design development and construction of the facility. The customer’s main problem was finding a way to appropriately export a US-based “spec” data center into Chile. Despite the compressed schedule and various scope changes during project construction, completion milestones were achieved saving the customer liquidated damages of approximately $1 million. Through direct negotiation during equipment procurement, intense value engineering and close monitoring of design concepts, budget, and schedule cost avoidance savings totaled $4.12 million.
